The perfect overlanding vehicle does exist, and here at Hi-Range Safari City, we are happy to tell you all about it.
We received a phone call from an international client who was planning on exploring our beautiful continent, starting with Botswana! He wanted us to build him a capable, and comfortable off road vehicle that could take him to all those magical secluded spots!
We started off by receiving a brand new extra cab GD6 Hilux, and got straight to work wasting no time, as we had strict deadlines to adhere to.
The first piece of the puzzle was to fit Tough Dog adjustable suspension. The 9 stages of adjustment mean you can control the firmness of your shocks easily, and adapt to the conditions as required. Choose a firmer ride for your highway travels, and then dial them down when it’s time to get down to business! Next we added the sleek looking PIAK Elite bar, which really gives the Hilux an aggressive look, all while protecting the front end of the vehicle. The PIAK replacement bar also comes with under body protection, to cover all those important components. We complimented the look and practicality of the Hilux, by adding a set of powerful Light Force Genesis Spotlights, and a 12000lbs Warn Winch with synthetic rope to get out of those extra sticky situations!
Moving onto the interior of the Hilux, we went ahead and fitted the all new River Rock range from Takla seat covers, which not only protects your interior to the fullest, but is also designed to look amazing!
With all the traveling our customer had planned, we had to look at a solution for space to pack the much needed essentials while being in the bush! A Rhinoman Xpedition Canopy was the perfect answer to that! Inside the canopy we fitted a full drawer system, as well as a tilting fridge slide from AluCab, paired with a National Luna 70L Legacy camping fridge! Also included in our canopy set up was a fold down tray, and a full set of camp kitchen utensils powered by Lumeno lights, and two 100AH Enertec Lithium Ion Battery. This makes life much easier in the bush, all while being monitored by an Intervolt battery management system! On top of the vehicle we also added an AluCab storage box. This is great for those extra travelling accessories, so they stay dry and out of the dust!
The rear of the Hilux also got a makeover, with a Gobi-X replacement bumper, and spare wheel carrier. On the spare wheel carrier we neatly added a spade and high lift jack.
The most important part of the build was to make our customers comfortable while listening to lions at night! This is where the AluCab expedition tent came in handy! Easy to put up, and even easier to put down when it’s time to make tracks! We also added the AluCab shadow awn, AluCab table as well as a shower cube! With all that driving on rough terrain, we decided to go with Syndicate Fuel rims, wrapped in Cooper Discover Tyres!
